Chelsea 2020 Update

Chelsea Flower Show 2020

Who’s In and who’s Not ?

We don’t actually know is the honest answer! The RHS Selection panel have been quite tardy this year in making their decisions, and along with sponsors nervous of impending BREXIT, there have been some shock departures from the 11 gardens that we had on the table back in August. Several other potential gardens are still at the negotiation stage.

However we have been able to begin work on three awesome gardens, and whilst we cannot announce who they are yet, we can at least say that most of the perennials for these gardens have been sourced, potted, and are enjoying the warm late summer sunshine. It makes such a difference to be able to get perennials potted before the weather turns cold. This is particularly important with some of the slower growing plants such as Astrantia that benefit from every growing day.

As usual we are involved in an eclectic mix of different styles of garden, and gardens based not only in the UK but in other parts of the world which provides interesting plant sourcing challenges. There’s a huge range of plant species on the lists that we are working on. If any trends are emerging, there is definitely a lot of usage of ornamental grasses and ferns, and also many native wildflowers are being specified for Chelsea 2020.

Maybe a slightly “greener” Chelsea 2020 in terms of foliage over flowers, and also of environmental awareness?

Keep checking in on our updates!
